Refresher course for members of the emergency response team on offshore oil and gas facilities (FOERTM)

Course Description:

A refresher course is required for personnel with a valid OERTM or OERTM Further certificate to extend the validity of their current certification following completion of a series of rescue exercises based on realistic offshore emergency scenarios.

Goals

Students are given the opportunity to participate in practical exercises that develop and reinforce the necessary skills to work in an emergency rescue (search) team as a member of the team (OERTM). These practical actions cannot be effectively practiced at offshore facilities.

Training program:

Content

Module 1 Further practical exercises for OERTM;

Element 1.1 Carrying out practical scenarios, with and without fire.

Physical activities associated with this course may include, but are not limited to:

  • Manual movement of loads;
  • Being under controlled exposure to heat and smoke;
  • Breathing from a self-contained breathing apparatus (Full Face mask);
  • Bending and twisting the upper body;
  • Staying in the classroom for at least 50 minutes at a time.
